Air pollution has emerged as a top-10 risk factor for human health in India and the cities are increasing exceeding the national ambient standards and the World Health Organizations guidelines for criteria pollutants. To support India’s air pollution management framework, modeled hourly average concentrations and a 24-hour moving average concentrations were simulated for the next 72-hours, using meteorology processed through 3D-WRF meteorological model and the GFS meteorological fields and the concentrations simulated through the CAMx chemical transport modeling system.
The time series presented here is an average for all the 0.25 x 0.25 degree grids (~25 km x 25 km) overlapping in each of the district. A map showing the geographical extent of each of the districts is presented here (along with a kml file for reference and use). The modeling domain includes 640 districts covering 36 states (including Union Territories). The district designations are as per the 2011 census board specifications. First select the state and then a district from the second drop down menu.
When comparing the numbers below with the real time monitoring data, keep in mind that these are district averages and the data coming from the monitoring stations is a point measurement. It is also a good practice to keep an eye on the meteorological fields, which tend to significantly impact the prevalent concentrations (for example, wet conditions mean lesser pollution, windy conditions mean more entrainment, etc.).
The data fields are updated everyday at ~7:00 PM local time.
